The brewery was founded from the ashes of Ruddles, which closed in the 90s and The Grainy, as it's lovingly known by locals, emerged headed by former Ruddles head brewery, Tony Davis.

The Grainstore is now one of only a handful of breweries in the country that still uses gravity as its primary brewing force.

The tour starts at the top of the old grainstore, next to Oakham railway station, and you are not only taken through the traditional brewing process, from grain to glass but Rory also throws in some wonderful facts and stories from the fascinating world of brewing across time and space.

It's incredible to think about how much the World has changed and yet there are still a few places that are keeping traditional alive by sticking to their original methods using science that was discovered hundreds of years ago and altering the technique very little.

It ends with a tasting session and snacks (depending on which package you book) downstairs in The Brewery Tap, which serves fantastic food and a great selection of Grainstore Brewery ales.
